Matthijs de Bruijn
Focus: Emerging Markets Finance
Matthijs de Bruijn started working at Steward Redqueen in January 2012. With his international experience, knowledge of emerging markets and passion for international relations he will mainly contribute to our Emerging Markets Finance practice. Within this practice he focuses on ESG risk management, fund evaluation, sustainable finance and training programmes.
Prior to joining Steward Redqueen Matthijs worked as a Consultant at the International Staff of NATO at the headquarters in Brussels. As an adviser in the Political Affairs division he was mainly responsible for coordinating and contributing to the NATO Secretary General’s speaking notes and background documents.
In 2009 Matthijs was an intern at the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands to the United Nations in New York, where he was primarily responsible for attending and analysing meetings of the UN Security Council. In between his periods in New York and Brussels he was an assistant lecturer at the University of Groningen.
In addition, Matthijs was active internationally next to his studies. He organised several UN simulation conferences, during which he also chaired multiple councils, such as the Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD).
Matthijs graduated ‘Cum Laude’ in Modern History from the University Groningen. He is fluent in Dutch and English, has a good working knowledge of German and a reasonable knowledge of French.
