René Kim
Focus: Emerging Markets Finance, Socio-Economic Impact Assessment
René is founder and partner of Steward Redqueen, where he leads the Emerging Markets Finance and Economic Impact Assessment business areas. He has helped a wide range of multinationals at corporate and business unit level to assess their economic footprints, improve their ESG management and couple sustainability with their value-based management business steering. His activities for development finance organisations range from ESG management, development impact evaluations and training.
Before joining Steward Redqueen, René was consultant and project leader at The Boston Consulting Group where he worked for almost four years on projects in the banking, telecommunications, steel and utilities sectors out of the Amsterdam and London offices.
Prior to consulting, he spent a long time in academia. After receiving his M.Sc in 1990, he earned his Ph.D, cum laude, from Wageningen University in 1995. He did part of his climatology/hydrology research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also worked as a postdoctoral associate from 1995-1997. He is the author of 12 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is fluent in Dutch, English and Spanish and has a good working knowledge of German.
