An inconvenient truth – the opera

June 2, 2008

Sometimes reading the news leads to confusion – at least for me. What to think about this? On contactmusic.com I read that Al Gore’s environmental documentary “An inconvenient truth” is to be adapted for the stage - as an opera. Italian composer Giorgio Battistelli has been commissioned to produce an opera based on Gore's global warming film for the 2011 season at Milan, Italy's La Scala opera house.
This is going to be so depressing! Or should we see this news in the context of sustainability and humour. In that case mr Battistelli could consider a nice twist. Have Monthy Python’s “Always look at the bright side of life” as the opening. I can assure you that I’ll be going to La Scala if this happens; …. by foot. I’m sure Mr Gore will do the same.
