Greener cars from China will find their way to Western markets

April 24, 2008

In this week’s weeks FT there was an article on China’s carmakers who are embracing next-generation cleaner-car technology (China carmakers go green in drive for profit, April 20st). Their motivation is profit and pragmatim more than any special love for the planet.
They seem to have an ambition to become leaders in greener cars by launching hybrid, electric and other alternative-energy vehicles. In about a decade China is expected to be the largest car market in the world (topping the US). Obviously this will contribute to more pollution and congestion. But don’t expect Chinese car just to contribute to solving national problems. The ambition to produce better cars and moving up in the value chain will impact Western car markets. Yet another example of how emerging giants are taking on Western industries. The best answer? Western carmakers should accelerate their ambitions and performance in greening their portfolio. Superb technolgy and competitieve pricing: there is no alternative!

Greener cars is a good idea. I've been looking for hybrid and I know that this technology existed long time ago but was not accepted as standard in the market. I hope this 1988-1992 FORD PROBE CUSTOM-FIT SUN SHIELDS - WILLPAK will have a hybrid counterpart.
