Young bankers propose ideas for viable banking sector
May 29, 2009
A group of young bankers in The Netherlands has organised a series of meetings to learn lessons for the future of the banking industry and find out the conditions that the industry must fulfil in order to regain its vitality. They regret the situation currently besetting the banking sector: the public has lost confidence in the banking industry, and rightly so.
Since they are the bankers of the future this next generation bankers felt a need making an active contribution towards a revitalised banking sector, first and foremost by restoring public confidence and trust. They propose that a viable banking sector is defined by being: service-minded, transparent, sustainable and diverse. Their conclusions have been put together in a statement. With this statement the new generation bankers actively participates in the debate on their industry. They hope that their statement helps to promote a constructive dialogue and they look forward to receiving suggestions and comments.
The statement is attached to this blog. Let me know what you think about it.
