Economic Impact Assessment
In 2010, we conducted an economic impact assessment for a multinational company in the food & beverage sector in one of the countries in which it operates. Using our input/output methodology we estimated the salaries, taxes and profits generated directly by the company and, through re-spending effects, by its suppliers and the households throughout its value chain. We also estimated the total employment in the local economy.
Informing the stakeholders about the outcomes of the study helped convince the local community of the company’s local character and enhanced its reputation. As a follow-up we conducted scenario analyses around changes in local sourcing and the effect of possible adjustments to tax regimes.
