Evaluation of Private Equity Funds for CDC

Our work for CDC, a client in our Emerging Markets Finance unit, involves evaluating the development impact of its investments in private equity funds. Each evaluation covers a fund’s Financial, Economic and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance as well as the private sector developmental impact and the effectiveness of CDC’s clients interventions.

Our evaluations have helped CDC not only to identify strengths and weaknesses of individual funds and the follow-up actions needed, but to strengthen CDC’s evaluation framework.

Since 2009, we have completed 12 evaluations and this number is expected to double before the end of 2011. In his foreword to CDC’s 2009 Development Review, CEO Richard Laing wrote:

“Seven […] evaluations were completed by Steward Redqueen*. This has provided valuable external validation of CDC’s evaluation process and […] contributed new ideas to CDC’s thinking on how to measure development.”
