Goldman Sachs CEO is doing God’s work

Yet talking in terms of “doing God’s work” does not seem to be very wise, to say the least. Or is Blankfein communicating implicitly to his audience that the financial crisis was an act of God? This is a legal term for events outside of human control, such as sudden floods or other natural disasters, for which no one can be held responsible. Is this his way of saying sorry? Guess not.
Blankfein may be very intelligent, but I don’t believe that his words are productive. I will bet him that his other messages haven’t reached his audience. They are more likely to remember the quote of FT’s Martin Wolfe: “No industry has a comparable talent for privatising gains and socialising losses”. Wolfe was talking about banks, not God.
