Outsiders need insights (and vice versa)
19 april 2012
One could say that people working in the area of sustainability are a community. For insiders of this community the necessity and business case of the transition towards a more sustainable economy is clear. They hardly understand why the rest of the world isn’t following them.
Often people who are in mainstream business are hardly aware of sustainable entrepreneurship. And when they are, they do not consider sustainability as a subject that is both important and urgent. Consequently they do not recognize an incentive for really targeting opportunities of a sustainability transition. They lack sustainability insights and stay put.
Sustainability professionals have to put more effort into explaining what they want to achieve and explaining the results of successful projects. Moreover, they have to do more on sketching how the economy and the business of an outsider will look like after a sustainability transition.
Outsiders need insights and insiders need outsights. Building bridges between those worlds is a crucial step towards the transition of the economy. Wouldn’t it be great to organize a few workshops that would do exactly that?
