We evaluated the role and contribution of WAGGGS volunteers during their biggest international convention

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is the largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world. Their goal is to transform the lives of girls and young women worldwide, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential and become responsible citizens of the world. They do this through delivering various (education) programmes on a global level.

WAGGGS asked Steward Redqueen to help them understand the value added of volunteers through an impact assessment focusing on their biggest international event – Roverway.

We explored the contribution of volunteers through surveys and interviews before, after, and during the event. This enabled us to answer a variety of questions: What are the pathways through which volunteers make a difference with their work? How can we value the time and knowledge volunteers contribute to the event? How can WAGGGS further enable volunteers for stronger impact? The research delivered a combination of qualitative and quantitative results.

The learnings from the assessment can be applied by WAGGGS to the overall work of volunteers at the organisation. The results also allow WAGGGS to showcase its uniqueness to a broader audience.
