MEL system for Kenyan Innovative Finance Facility for Water

We developed a monitoring, evaluation and learning system for the Kenyan Innovative Finance Facility for Water

The Kenyan Innovative Finance Facility for Water (KIFFWA) is a Nairobi-based financing facility that supports water infrastructure project developers. It has a pioneering approach as it supports projects in the pre-development stages, which is a fundamental but underfinanced phase of water infrastructure projects.

KIFFWA’s Board asked Steward Redqueen to develop a system to better track economic, social and developmental returns achieved (or expected to be achieved) by the facility. We executed research and interviews with all relevant stakeholders and developed a policy and practical toolkit that helps KIFFWA effectively and efficiently track (expected) results achieved.

The toolkit is continuously used to identify new investment opportunities, mobilise private finance for water initiatives, optimise investment decisions and improve accountability to donors, project sponsors and external stakeholders.
